New iPhone 17 Air Report: Design, Specs and Major Compromise

 Camera

iPhone 17 Air will have a single rear camera feature. While other models in the lineup will have dual or triple camera setups, the 17 Air's single camera may appeal to users who prefer a simpler, more minimalist design. The phone can take high-quality photos like other iPhone models but lacks advanced features such as telephoto and ultrawide lenses like other models.

Battery Life

Apple is willing to compromise on battery life to achieve the ultra-thin design. This means that the iPhone 17 Air will get a smaller battery, which will affect the phone's overall battery performance. This will challenge users who use their phones heavily.

5g Modem

iPhone 17 Air will use Apple's in-house 5G modem, which is smaller and more efficient than Qualcomm's modems. If the report of the mother is to be believed, the modem does not support mmWave 5g. However, it may not perform as well, with slower data speeds and less reliable connectivity.

No Physical SIM Slot

To save space, Apple is removing the physical SIM slot and using eSIM technology. Meaning now we will not get to see the physical SIM card. This eSIM technology is more convenient than the tiPhone 14 in the market, but it can be a challenge for countries like China where physical SIM tray is used more.

Single Speaker

Here we get to see a big change in the speaker because the iPhone 17 Air will have a single speaker setup instead of dual speakers. Because there is no space for a second speaker in its bottom grill. However, the design of the iPhone 17 Air has not been finalized yet, as the phone is still in early production trials at Foxconn.

Design and Build

The prototypes of the iPhone 17 Air have shown that it is known for its slimness which is expected to be between 5mm and 6mm whereas the iPhone 16 model is 7.8mm thick. Talking about the build, the rear of the phone will feature a part-aluminum, part-glass design, giving it a premium look and feel. The camera bump will change to a larger rectangle, which will be made of either aluminum or 3D glass. These design changes are not just for aesthetics but also enhance the overall durability and usability of the device.

User Experience and Design Philosophy

Talking about Apple's design philosophy, Apple always focuses on making user-friendly, sleek devices, and the iPhone 17 Air continues this tradition of Apple.

Removing the physical SIM and single camera setup shows how bold Apple's design is. Which has been done to enhance the user experience even more.
